All Custom Clearance Centers and border Centers except King Abdullah II Customs Center – Sahab. Dear expatriate, you have the right to transfer your goods to the customs center in which you wish to complete your transaction. The center does not prevent that according to the powers delegated to the customs centers authorized to clear the furniture of expatriates. Http://www.customs.gov.jo.

Conditions for obtaining service

  1. The concerned person must be present or whoever is officially authorized.
  2. The owners of the goods (furniture); whether the husband or the wife must be present in Jordan.
  3. The expatriate must have been living outside the Kingdom for a year or more.
  4. The expatriate must present whatever proves that his/her residence is terminated, by any of the following means:
    1. Cancelation of the residence permit stamped on the passport.
    2. Submit a document indicating the termination of the work contract, resignation, dispensing the service abroad, or presenting an employment contract inside the Kingdom certified by the relevant official authorities.
    3. Presenting a certified lease contract in the Kingdom by government agencies or a house ownership deed/title.
    4. Presenting certificates of transferring children from schools or certificates of acceptance in Jordanian schools.
    5. Attendance of concerned persons, whether husband or wife. In case they were late or failed to attend, all customs fees and other taxes will be paid from the insurance deposit.
    6. The applicant must not have obtained anexemption for all thegoods indicated. In case the applicant has obtained part of them, the remainder shall be exempted provided that the applicant returnsthe exemption in installments during a period not exceeding six months from the date of arrival. No exemption will be considered after this period.
    7. Granting the exemption only once, except for the citizen who benefited from a previous exemption and it was affirmed that the citizen had left the Kingdom to reside outside for a second time. This is provide that the citizen shall  benefit from a later exemption only after passing at least five years from the date of the first exemption.
  5. The applicant must prepare a statement indicating all the incoming goods, provided that any excess of what is mentioned in the statement is subject to the provisions of the Customs Law. http://www.customs.gov.jo

Notes

Types of Lanes:

  • The Green Lane: the Customs Declaration shall be subjected to documentary review. The declaration will be automatically cleared through regulations after lanes categorization.
  • The Yellow Lane: the concerned officer shall subject the Customs Declaration to documentary review with the possibility of transferring so to the red lane for physical inspectionin case of suspicion.
  • The Red Lane: the contents of the Customs Declaration shall pass through physical inspection by the inspector.

Terminology:

  • Lanes Categorization: accepting the declaration, after documentary review, and assigning it with a lane, by the Reception Officer.
  • Clearing: is a notification that all the declaration steps have been completed and that the declaration is ready for payment.
  • Goods/ commodities: any natural substance, or animal, industrial or agricultural product including electricity.

Procedures

  1. The applicant shall submit the application of exemption to the Director or whoever is officially delegated.
  2. The Director or whoever is officially delegated shall forward the transaction to the specialized unit to verify not having a previous exemption. If it was revealed that the applicant has never obtained an exemption, the applicant pursues further procedures.
  3. The applicant prepares and submits a customs declaration to the Department of Competition for verification, documentary review and red lane categorization.
  4. The transaction is then sent to the inspector for commodities physical inspection and preparation of a report stating this.
  5. The transaction is then forwarded to the specialized unit if the conditions are met and approvals are electronically completed.
  6. Moves to the Green Lane.
  7. Visit the Cashier to pay the prescribed fees.
  8. Visit Permits Department to issue an Exit Permit.
  9. Approach the exit gate waiting for commodities to be cleared from the Center.

Required Documents

 

  • A valid passport (showing a proof of residency cancellation or end of work contract) + a family book, showing an ownership deed of a property + electricity invoice, or a certificate of accepting children in Jordanian schools or whatever proves the residency outside the Kingdom for over a year.
  • An authorization letter by the concerned person delegating the clearance company to pursue procedures.
  • A packing list of the incoming furniture, goods and appliances either used or new.
